“The only movie about me I like” (Rem Koolhaas). A pop-star in the worlds of architecture and art, this documentary deconstructs Koolhaas’ otherworldly image as an avant-garde architect. A quirky and eclectic journey into the ideas, background and buildings of one of the most fascinating, ironic and visionary architects of our time. This unusual architecture documentary uses animation and compositing techniques, appearing like an animated Bruce Mau book (Bruce Mau was the designer of the legendary S,M,L,XL by Rem Koolhaas). |

By showing Koolhaas’ development towards his current iconic status and by revealing his influences from different art fields (for example: Koolhaas started as a scriptwriter at the Dutch Film School), the documentary questions common notions about authenticity, authorship and the work of an architect. An ambitious experiment edited with a fast rhythm and accompanied by the striking sound track of DJ Koze (Berlin). With Cecil Balmond, Rene Daalder, Bart Lootsma, Richard Meier, Joshua Prince-Ramus and many others. |
