Rene Seegers
René Seegers studied at the Dutch Film & TV Academy. In 1980 he teamed up with Leon de Winter and Jean van de Velde to create the First Amsterdam Film Association of 1980 (EAFA). The EAFA has completed several films: THE DEMISE OF HERMAN DURER (1980), SILENT PACIFIC (1982, Berlin Filmfestival), FRONTIER (1983, Cannes Filmfestival). In 1984 René Seegers joined VPRO television as a documentary filmmaker and produced and directed Junkie’s GRIEF, THE WORLD REFORMER (about the Austrian playwright Thomas Bernard), THE FREUDIAN SLIP (about Peter Swales) any many others. As an independent producer with his company Lowland Holding BV he produced two prize winning TV serials: OLD FRIENDS (1991), BETRAYED (1993, Berlin Filmfestival) and several international co productions: THE LAST CALL (1995, NL Belgium), directed by Frans Weisz, THE GAMBLER (1997, UK – NL – Hungary) by Karoly Makk, TRAIN OF LIVE (1998, FR – NL – Rumania) by Radu Mihilanu, WOMAN OF THE NORTH (1998, NL – Italy) by Frans Weisz and FOR MY BABY (1999, NL – Hungary) by Rudolf van den Berg.
In 2000 René Seegers supervised the production of two feature films for PLESWIN ENTERTAINMENT BV (Eric Pleskow and Leon de Winter): THE HOLLYWOOD SIGN, directed by Sonke Wortmann and starring Burt Reynolds, Rod Steiger and Tom Berenger and MEN ARE DOGS by Kees van Oostrum and starring Jeanne Tripplehorn and Live Schreiber.
